HCC participates in the medical electronics industry in two areas. One is power supplies for implantable medical devices. These devices include cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators, cochlear implants and implantable drug and heart pumps. The power is provided by a Lithium / Iodine battery that is hermetically sealed inside the device. HCC also produces packages used in medical applications, including circuits that facilitate diagnostic imaging and UV lasers for surgical drilling, cutting and “cold marking” of bone, and surgical drills to survive autoclaving.
