AMETEK SCP RUGGED GIGABIT ETHERNET CONNECTORS AVAILABLE FOR UNDERSEA AND SURFACE APPLICATIONS

WESTERLY, RI, —AMETEK SCP, a world leader in underwater cable and connector solutions for military and commercial applications, offers rugged gigabit Ethernet connectors for explosive shock, vibration, deep submergence or harsh surface environments. The connectors are especially suited for high-pressure underwater applications or in surface applications for aircraft, ships, tanks and other combat vehicles.

The Gigabit Ethernet Connector from AMETEK SCP is available in two configurations: 1) underwater or outboard for submarine or undersea oil/gas applications and 2) surface or inboard applications for aircraft, ships, submarines, tanks and land systems. The connectors are ETL listed certified to TIA/EIA 568 Cat 5E and Cat 6 standards and feature optimized pin arrangements for maintaining the integrity of twisted wire pairs and MIL Spec contacts for COTS advantages. A pin and socket concept is used to ensure no loss of data packets during shock and vibration.

Polycarbonate insulator material is used for dry applications and polyurethane and epoxy insulator for underwater applications. D38999 Series plug for COTS is used for dry applications and MIL-C-24231 Series connectors for deep submergence applications. For underwater applications, M2664/59/60/61 CAT 6 pigtails are applied with low smoke jacket for internal use and a polyurethane jacket for external applications. High-pressure cables are rated to 2000psi and available with glass-to-metal seals. Cables are available with power pins in the same configuration as CAT 6 cable.
